âï¸ READ THIS BEFORE YOU SIGN A LEASE
Iâm leaving this review because I wish someone had been this honest with me before I moved here. Everything in this review is based on my personal experience as a resident.
Letâs start with the maintenance issues. My dryer has been broken for TWO MONTHS. Two months of repeatedly dealing with the same issue and still not having a working dryer.
Iâve also experienced multiple occasions where the water for the entire apartment complex was shut off, including one time when we were without water for approximately 5 DAYS. When you have a household to take care of, being without water for that long is not a minor inconvenience.
Iâve also had an ongoing roach problem. Someone has been sent out to address it, but in my experience, the visit consisted of walking around the apartment without actually resolving the problem. The issue has continued.
Then there was a plumbing issue where a maintenance employee told me I needed to âcontrol my kidsâ because there was toilet paper in the drains. Instead of addressing the plumbing problem, he refused to fix it. I had to wait two days for another maintenance employee to come out and resolve it. I reported what happened to the office, and I did not feel that my complaint was taken seriously.
The office staff has been another major frustration. I have repeatedly been told that someone will come out to address an issue, only to wait weeks with nothing being done. My maintenance requests and complaints seem to go in one ear and out the otherâuntil itâs time to contact me about rent.
When I come into the office asking for help, I have also been met with an attitude that makes me feel like Iâm bothering them. One particular experience left me feeling like the staff member was visibly irritated simply because I was asking for assistance.
I understand that rent is owed and that management has every right to address unpaid rent. What I donât understand is the amount of attention my account receives when basic maintenance problems in my apartment can remain unresolved for weeks or months.
During an apartment inspection, my rent situation was also brought up while I had company present. I found that extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing. There is a professional way to discuss someoneâs account without putting them in that position.
And then there was the pool situation. My children attempted to use the community pool and management subsequently closed the pool for the rest of the day because of underage children being there. Whatever the pool rules may be, the way the situation was handled added to an already frustrating experience.
And prospective residents should also be aware of move-out charges. Based on what I have experienced and seen regarding these charges, I would strongly recommend documenting the condition of your apartment extremely carefully when you move in and throughout your tenancy. Take pictures and videos of EVERYTHING. Donât assume normal wear and tear wonât become a charge later. Document every wall, floor, appliance, fixture, and existing crack or imperfection.
The biggest problem for me isnât that things occasionally break. Things break. Thatâs apartment living.
The problem is having to repeatedly ask for those things to be fixed, being told someone will come out, waiting weeks, and then watching the urgency suddenly appear when rent is involved.
If youâre considering moving here, please do your research first. Ask about maintenance response times, appliance repairs, pest control, water shutoffs, pool rules, move-out charges, and how resident complaints are handled. And document the condition of your apartment from the moment you receive your keys.
Iâm not claiming this property has never done anything right. Iâm saying that MY experience as a resident has been extremely frustrating, and I would want future residents to know what I personally experienced before signing a lease.
Read the reviews. Ask questions. Document everything. Then make your decision.
